Bring your bear to the Teddy Bear’s Picnic this Father’s Day and take part in the great activities
Hello!
Today I talked with Kelly Owner of The Bear Garden shop based in tower ramparts in Ipswich town centre, and co-organiser of the upcoming Teddy Bear’s Picnic in Christchurch Park to encourage people to visit Christchurch and the historic Christchurch Mansion.
For those who don’t know, when will the Teddy Bear’s Picnic be taking place and where?
The Teddy Bear’s Picnic is this Sunday the 21st of June at 1pm and it will be taking place right outside the mansion on the mansion lawn at Christchurch Park.
What activities can the kids expect to take part in on the day?
There will be a story teller who will be reading stories throughout the event, there is also arts and crafts activities for the children to take part in all, of which are free.
Teddy bear’s Parachute?
Yes in addition there’s a teddy bear parachute which gives kids the opportunity to launch they’re teddy bear off the mansion itself and for every successful jump you will receive a certificate of achievement as well, there’s a small fee for the parachute its only two pounds per bear but otherwise your still welcome to come take part in the other activities for free.
Why were you keen to be involved in the event as a local business?
I think it’s really important as a small business to be associated with other activities that are running in the town. I’m a fan of Christchurch Park myself, I take my children there regularly and I think sometimes we can be too complacent with what we have around the town, we know it’s there but we don’t always take advantage of going, for me as well it’s just to encourage people to come and have a look at Christchurch Park, its a beautiful award winning park and we just want to be involved. The fact that it is a Teddy Bear’s Picnic is perfect for us we are Ipswich’s only dedicated bear-building shop so we really wanted to be involved and for it not to be about the sales but more about what Christchurch Park has to offer.
Can you tell me about the businesses you are working with on the day?
Yes, the event was organised by Ipswich borough council as part of the Ip-art festival and when we decided that we would love to be involved with made a great connection with the mansion as well in addition to that we are supported by the GenR8 scheme which is a local initiative where card holders can receive 15% discount in over 85 local shops so on the day as a thank you to the people who have decided to come along we will be giving everyone a free GenR8 card which is normally 15 pounds for the year and they will get a free years member ship as well the people that we’ve managed to work with are the council themselves, the park and GenR8.
Do you have a website where people can find out more about your business and products?
Yes we do, you can find out more about the products and what we do as well and also the story behind The Bear Garden, its www.thebeargardenipswich.co.uk
And they’re you have it, tell your friends and family and get involved this Sunday 21st of July! You can expect great weather and fun for the whole family! It’s free to attend with a small fee for the parachute jump! To find out more about the Teddy Bear’s Picnic click here or join the Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Parachute Jump Facebook Page!
