Shows this June include:

From Wed 10 June, Suzanne Hawkes presents her entry to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages SHAKESPEARE IN SUFFOLK – a new drama based in 1596 exploring the trials and tribulations of William Shakespeare’s own company of performers, The Chamberlains Men. The production will take place at St Peters By The Waterfront Wed 10 to Fri 12 June, and Christchurch Mansion Sun 14, Sat 20 and Sun 21 June.

SUFFOLK SOUL SINGERS are back for a third year by popular demand on Sat 13 June. This community choir will present an evening of soul and gospel inspired music, packed with rich vocal harmonies and will be supported by a live band of professional musicians

Back after a sell-out performance in last year’s Pulse Festival, New Art Club present their dance cabaret for all ages HERCULES on Wed 17 June. Hercules is best known for his strength – but who knew the guy could dance? This is the story of Hercules told through hilarious dance routines – a comic take on history and a party all rolled into one side splitting adventure.

From Wed 24 to Sat 27 June, Appeal Theatre Group returns with THE DROWSY CHAPERONE – a musical within a comedy! With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favourite record: the cast recording of a ficitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life all around him and we are taken on a delightful madcap adventure.

Playwright Gail Young follows up her internationally acclaimed hit play Cheshire Cats with this touching look at what some experts call ‘the long goodbye’. BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED on Fri 26 and Sat 27 June is presented by Kesgrave Amateur Theatre Society, and follows Irene and her two daughters as they begin a long journey in which the girls lose their mum in spirit but not in body to Alzheimers.

On Sun 28 June, Come and Sing Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS PINAFORE with the award winning Ipswich Gilbert and Sullivan Society. We’ll provide the music in the programme, all you need to do is turn up and tune your tonsils! You can practise with the company from 7pm, but if you’re confident you know it or just want to come to the performance, arrive for 8pm.

Tickets are on sale now and can be booked through the Tickets Sales Team by calling the New Wolsey Theatre on 01473 295900 or by booking online at www.wolseytheatre.co.uk
