Tilted Productions, Maresa von Stockert’s award winning dance theatre company, has a new home at the Jerwood DanceHouse in Ipswich. Hosted by DanceEast, the move will mean that Tilted can build stronger links in the community as well as continue to develop new work in the region. The move to the DanceHouse is part of Tilted’s regional strategy which since 2006 has seen Tilted hosted by key partner organisations in the east of England including the Mercury Theatre Colchester, DanceDigital in Chelmsford and Norfolk Dance in Norwich.

Tilted Productions’ work combines contemporary dance, physical theatre and most recently also contemporary circus. In collaboration with an international team of artists including dancers, designers, composers and circus artists, Maresa von Stockert creates illusionary worlds that are inspired by human themes and which play with real life issues by taking them into the realm of the surreal.

The company tours stage works as well as site-specific and outdoor pieces nationally and internationally. Working with co-producers in the UK and France the most recent work, FRAGILE (2013), was a large scale outdoors piece merging contemporary circus and dance in innovative ways. Previous works such as Seasaw, an outdoor promenade piece (2010-12) and Masquerade, a stage piece (2011/12) have also played at home and abroad to great success.

Artistic Director, Maresa von Stockert said: “We are excited to be relocating to the JerwoodDanceHouse. It is a great creation facility and we look forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration with DanceEast and the wider community.”

Brendan Keaney, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of DanceEast said: “Supporting artists and the art form is central to DanceEast’s mission and being able to offer Tilted a home here at the DanceHouse enables us to provide that support in a very direct way. We look forward to working with Tilted over the coming months.”

Founded in 2006, Tilted Productions is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England.
