Acupuncture is one of those complementary treatments that appear to work without anyone being able to quite understand why. It has been used as a medical treatment in China for thousands of years and let’s face it, no medical practice would survive for that long without being effective.
Despite its mysterious nature, the evidence from acupuncture patients themselves is compelling, so much so that acupuncture is used in many NHS general practices, as well as the majority of pain clinics and hospices in the UK. Even the hard-to-convince National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends acupuncture as a treatment option for chronic lower back pain, chronic tension-type headaches and migraines.
Of course, one huge advantage of acupuncture for any treatment is that it’s completely natural – there are no pills or potions, nothing is injected and there is no pain, scars or recovery time. The treatment is restful and rejuvenating, in fact one thing scientists do agree on is acupuncture releases endorphins, the body’s own natural ‘pain and stress-fighters’, so be prepared to float out of any treatment at Niroshini feeling more than a little blissful.

TREATMENT OPTIONS
Facial Massage & Lymphatic Drainage
This facial treatment uses essential oils and specialist massage techniques to activate all layers of the skin and underlying muscles, helping to flush toxins to the lymph nodes to be removed from the body.
As well as being blissfully relaxing, this massage decreases facial puffiness, boosts the immune system, and soothes sore muscles. You may never go back to a regular massage again!
“I had the privilege to enjoy Melissa’s Lymphatic Drainage Massage – wow! It was a fantastically relaxing massage, expertly delivered, with minimum fuss but maximum benefit. Afterwards I felt re-energised and my skin was glowing. The effect stayed with me for days. I would highly recommend this treatment and Melissa.” - Kim Brown, Boleyn Events
Consultation – Facial/Cosmetic Acupuncture
This 45-minute consultation will cover your health and lifestyle, and will include a visual eye reading - an essential part of the acupuncture system which reveals imbalances or health issues you might have in your body. After the consultation, Melissa will create a treatment plan to suit you and your needs.
Niroshini Cosmetic Acupuncture Ritual
Featured on TV’s “Ten Years Younger” and said to be the secret beauty regime of a number of celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie and Madonna, facial acupuncture is a safer and completely natural alternative to Botox and cosmetic surgery.
Research shows that cosmetic acupuncture stimulates the flow of blood through the skin in the face, helping to hydrate the skin and boost the skin’s supply of nutrients and oxygen. This visibly reduces the signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin, and can also improve a wide range of skin blemishes and conditions.
To achieve maximum benefits, a course of ten treatments over five weeks is recommended. The ten-treatment “ritual” programme also includes a free consultation, massage and complimentary eyelash and eyebrow tinting/shaping - a luxury treatment for those seeking a non-surgical facelift.
“I think I have been on a bit of a journey, from being really nervous of acupuncture, as I assumed it would be painful despite hearing only good reports from others that had experienced it. By the end of the 10 treatments, I was positively embracing this lovely experience; Melissa clearly loves what she is doing. Looking back on the pictures from day 1 onwards and comparing to the latest ones, my face and skin look and feel improved. I always walked away from a session with a glowing complexion. I feel much better about my appearance and I put that down to feeling better inside. Melissa is a very talented and patient practitioner, always concerned for how her clients are feeling; her attention to detail is excellent”.- Jane ClarkFacial Acupuncture for Health
Facial acupuncture is a well-recognised treatment for tension headaches and migraine, as well as various types of facial pain and conditions of the sinuses and ears (e.g.: tinnitus).
Depending on your condition, Melissa will use her experience as a Reiki Practitioner and Acupuncturist to painlessly place the fine acupuncture needles around the brows, nose, chin and mouth, wherever is needed to alleviate your symptoms.
“I was hoping that [facial acupuncture] could improve my loss of a sense of taste which had resulted from losing my sense of smell some time ago. What was remarkable was that during the course of the treatment, I felt the sinuses at the top of my nose suddenly clear. My breathing became far improved and I was quite surprised at this change as it was not anticipated and quite unexpected. There is no doubt that acupuncture works.” - Jackie Rigden, Medical Secretary
