An old grasshoppers, lots of insects, one little boy and a very large peach!
James Henry Trotter is a little boy who lives with Spiker and Sponge, his two aunts who are really pretty horrid. James hasn’t any friends, no not one friend in the whole wide world. But then he meets the Old Green Grasshopper and the rest of the insects aboard a giant, magical peach and this is when his adventures begin!
James and the Giant Peach was Roald Dahl’s first classic novel for children, and has been adapted for theatre by ‘Sell A Door’ Theatre Company, and is showing at the New Wolsey Theatre up to Saturday 21st Many. We went along to the New Wolsey Theatre on Tuesday evening, which was a complete sell-out performance and where the reception was bursting with children, young people and families, eagerly awaiting the start of the show.
So who better to write a review than one of the children who watched the show:
As I sat in the theatre I was so excited , I love the theatre everything about it. James and the Giant Peach was really good. I loved it, I am a fan of Roald Dahl .
The Actors were excellent , my favourite character was Miss Spider because she was funny and pulled silly faces . I also loved when the peach ball got thrown into the audience , and if you caught it you had to throw it back . The peach prop was really clever, and it was also very clever how they made the earth worm , it looked like a lot of hard effort was put into that costume.
The songs were really good and in the final song they got us to get up and dance . I do wish there was dancing in it , because I love dancing.
It was a really good show me and my school friends really enjoyed it ! I would go and see it again with my mum!
