Located in Bury St Edmunds is Smiths Row, a contemporary art gallery with an exciting programme of exhibitions and public art projects, supported by a range of tours, talks and workshops. You will find works by new artists as well as by more familiar and established artists, and a selection of work by local artists is also available to purchase
When you visit Smiths Row you cannot fail to be impressed by the architecture of this Grade 1 listed building, which was originally designed in 1770s as a theatre. The high ceilings of the gallery on the first floor have been retained, as have the Georgian façade and elegant arched windows. The centre piece of the space is a pair of magnificent Venetian crystal chandeliers.
Admission to all the exhibitions at Smiths Row is free.
Open Tuesdays to Saturday, 10.30am to 5.00pm
