National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
The objectives of National Apprenticeship Week 2014 are to:
- Increase awareness, understanding and demand for Apprenticeships.
- Celebrate Apprenticeship talent, skills, achievements and successes.
- Promote all Apprenticeship levels and progression routes, including Traineeships.
The overarching theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2014 is: Great Apprenticeships
“Great Businesses” are made by apprentices and Apprenticeships lead to“Great Prospects.”
It is about demonstrating that Apprenticeships are great for businesses, personal careers and creating opportunities for both employers and apprentices.
So what’s happening locally?
- Sanctuary are hosting an event on Tuesday 4th March between 10am and 12 noon for young people (aged 16-24) to visit their offices at Neptune Marina (on the Ipswich waterfront) to learn about the range of apprenticeship opportunities and to gain valuable career advice.
- On Wednesday 5th Key Straining are operating a Speed Interview where 36 attendees are being interviewed by seven employers
- On Wednesday 5th March between 2pm and 7pm the Suffolk Schools Apprenticeship Fair is being at Suffolk New College, where a number of local employers of Apprentices and training providers will be in attendance.
