This year a series of events will take place leading up to the ‘Big Switch On’ event which takes place in the heart of the town.

And coincident with the ‘Big Switch On’, will be a Christmas Market lining parts of Princes Street, Queens Street, St Nicholas Street, all the way down to Cromwell Square.

Late night shopping will commence on Thursday 20th November, with many retailers opening late into the evening for the Christmas shopping to begin in earnest. This will run every Thursday until 18th December.

The ‘Big Switch On’ is not just the unveiling of the Christmas lights. There is a whole lot of fun and festivities planned so that families are encouraged to come into the town centre and make the most of what Ipswich has to offer. The town will be brought to life with music, entertainment, and not forgetting the Christmas Market, all together creating a real festive atmosphere.

Ipswich’s spectacular Christmas lights will be located across the retail heart of the town, down to and including the Waterfront. All will be adorned with the festive sparkle and at the agreed time they will be switched on and revealed in their full glory.

To celebrate the Christmas Switch On, there will be further surprises in store to be revealed in the day.
