Whether you are a beginner wishing to unearth the joys of lace making, or you are experienced in this traditional craft, here is the course for you.

If you are a beginner, you will discover the gentle art of bobbin lace making, learn how to wind bobbins, prepare and read a pattern, and turn a corner while you create a bookmark and a piece of edging. If you are an experienced lace maker, then why not look at different types of lace such as Beginners’ Beds, Bruges and Braid?

Or perhaps you are working on a complicated piece where you need help. With her many years’ experience, Alison is just the person to guide you to take your skills further.

This course is flexible and informal, with each person working at their own pace, interspersed by demonstrations from Alison who also gives individual help and support throughout.

Alison has been making lace for 30+ years and teaching for some 15 years. An enthusiastic lace maker, she has collected a vast range of patterns from which people can select. She also designs her own patterns taking into account the needs of those new to lace making.
With a strong student following, Alison holds City & Guilds’ Lace Making and Teaching certificates.
